No one injured when plane runs off tarmac at Lincoln Airport

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – No one was injured Tuesday morning when a plane ran off the tarmac at the Lincoln Airport.

Bob Frank with airport police told Channel 8 that the plane went off the runway during landing around 11:15 a.m.

Airport spokeswoman Rachel Barth said wind caused the plane to hit its wing on the runway and skid into the grass.

There was minimal damage to the single-engine plane, which was headed from North Platte, according to officials.

“There was three people on the aircraft,” Barth said, “Everyone is safe, everyone at the airport responded like they should have. One of our operations team members was out there and helped get the aircraft out of the grass to taxi it in safely.”

Lincoln Fire & Rescue also responded to the scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration says on its website that safety experts follow up on all events to make sure there is no ongoing risk.
