No weapon found after Beatrice elementary school goes into lockdown, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Beatrice Police Department responded quickly Wednesday after a weapon was reported at a local elementary school.

Around 8:15 a.m., a parent reported that a weapon might be on the premises of Stoddard Elementary School.

Shortly after, the school was placed into lockdown, and officers were immediately sent to the scene.

After an investigation, officers determined that no weapon had been brought onto school grounds.

The incident was resolved in about 15 minutes, police said.

Officers are conducting a follow-up investigation with school officials.

“This incident underscores the importance of proactive safety measures and the seamless cooperation between educational institutions and law enforcement agencies,” police said in a press release.
