LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Monday after lighting a house on fire in Norfolk, police say.

Around 3:40 a.m., officers responded to a fire at a home near North Ninth Street and Koenigstein Avenue.

By the time officers arrived, the fire had mostly been extinguished by the person living at the home.

They were sleeping inside the home at the time of the fire, according to police.

A few hours later, investigators deemed the fire had been “intentionally set.”

Surveillance footage showed a man, later identified as 36-year-old Devan Marshall of Norfolk, carrying a gasoline can and a firearm near the home.

Police said the video was “clear enough” for a neighbor to identify Marshall.

He was found at his home and arrested on suspicion of first-degree arson, attempted first-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
