Norfolk Police officer resigns following DUI allegations

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Norfolk Police officer accused of drunken driving over the weekend has resigned.

In a press release on Monday, the Norfolk Police Division announced the resignation of Officer Joshua Schlote, effective immediately.

At 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, an officer responded to a disturbance between Schlote, 28, and his wife near 18th Street and Maple Avenue. Schlote was off duty.

Both he and his wife were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Schlote had been serving in a probationary capacity with the department.

The department said no further comment will be provided at this time.
