Norris falls short after slow start, outlasted by Gretna down the stretch

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Norris Titans hosted the Gretna Dragons in their home opener Friday night, losing 52-45 in a shootout.

The Dragons opened up the game by scoring 28 straight points, but the Titans woke up in the second quarter.

A blocked punt by Crew Moeller led to a 2-yard rushing touchdown by Markus Nelson, cutting Gretna’s lead to 21.

Two more rushing touchdowns from Norris and 38-yard touchdown pass from Gretna made the score 35-20 at the half.

Norris opened up the scoring in the second half with a 22-yard touchdown pass from Jarrett Behrends to JT Druba, making the score 35-28.

Another rushing touchdown by Druba tied the game at 35 to end the third quarter, but the Titans couldn’t keep pace in the fourth.

Two touchdown passes from Michael Knudsen helped the Dragons outlast the Titans in a heavyweight Class B matchup.
