LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Wednesday after he attacked his roommate with a machete in North Platte, police say.

Around 3:50 p.m., officers were sent to 60-year-old Jahi Dumisani’s home near Taft and Phillip avenues on a report of an assault.

The victim told officers that they were trying to move out due to Dumisani “acting strange,” police said.

As the victim was about to leave, Dumisani accused them of trying to steal and threatened to chop off their head.

Shortly after, Dumisani grabbed a rusty machete and hit the victim in the throat, according to police.

Due to the blade’s condition, the victim only had a minor injury, police said.

Officers found Dumisani, still wielding the machete, after he crashed into a parked car nearby.

Police said Dumisani was under the influence of drugs.

He was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including second-degree assault and terroristic threats.
