LPD: Fire at northeast Lincoln apartment building deemed arson
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Police are investigating an arson at a northeast Lincoln apartment building early Wednesday morning.
Around 1:50 a.m., Lincoln Fire & Rescue was called to a building near 49th Street and Walker Avenue, near Nebraska Wesleyan University.
When crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the back of the building, according to Battalion Chief Aaron Pospisil.
Police said a fire started in the stairwell before being extinguished by neighbors. The apartment was evacuated due to the fire.
LPD estimates the fire caused $1,300 in damage.
Investigators think this arson might be related to last week’s fire on Saint Paul Avenue “as they are similar in nature,” according to police.
