LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Winside man is accused of child abuse after he was found to be driving drunk with a 10-year-old child in the car.

The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said Stephen Schrader, 32, was pulled over by a deputy for driving on the shoulder on Highway 24 near Stanton.

After an investigation, the deputy found that Schrader was intoxicated.  A 10-year-old was also in the car, according to the sheriff’s office.

Schrader’s blood alcohol content was three times over the legal limit, the sheriff’s office said.

He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated DUI and child abuse.  The child was released to family, and Schrader has been released on bail.
