Note quite record-breaking heat, but still hot

Monday will feature sunny skies from start to finish. The sunshine will allow for hot high temperatures, in the mid to upper-90s across the area. We’re forecasting a high near 98° in Lincoln, which is several degrees shy of the record high of 104° (1988).

Monday Forecast

Fortunately, the humidity won’t be too oppressive. You might notice some level of discomfort due to the humidity at some points, but it could always be worse for a June afternoon. You may also notice a breeze on Monday afternoon, with sustained winds out of the south anywhere from 10-20 mph.

Stormcast Wind Speeds - Monday Afternoon

There are rain chances this week, but primarily in the western half of the state. While Lincoln does appear mostly dry through Friday, we do have the opportunity to see a couple of storms on Saturday. Even so, the streak of dry weather certainly doesn’t help out the drought situation in eastern Nebraska.

Precipitation Potential - Through Friday Night

It’s going to remain hot for the next ten days. For now, we’re keeping 90s in the forecast through next weekend and into next week.
