LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities have identified the person who died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 over the weekend as a Lincoln man.

The Nebraska State Patrol says 25-year-old Ryan Hughes was found in a Toyota 4-Runner that had left the interstate and crashed into a creek near the Greenwood exit Saturday afternoon.

Rescue personnel attempted to save Hughes, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation

An online obituary says Hughes was a 2014 graduate of Northstar High School and studied to become a radiology technologist at Southeast Community College.

“Ryan had a deep passion to care for people,” the obituary said. “Ryan enjoyed motocross, bicycling, golfing, gaming and spending time with his girlfriend, Liz and their dogs, family and friends.  He had an adventurous spirit that loved to travel whether it be mountains to hike or oceans to scuba dive, he always soaked in the experiences.  Ryan’s infectious laugh and smile brought joy to anyone around him.  He had a tenacious spirit and determination to accomplish anything he set out to do.”
