LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Omaha man was arrested Wednesday night after a short chase near downtown Omaha.

At 11:45 p.m., a trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol saw a Dodge Dakota swerving in-and-out of its lane on Highway 75.

The trooper tried to pull the car over, but the driver refused to stop and accelerated.

According to the state patrol, the driver continued to drive recklessly at 95 mph before exiting the highway at Ames Avenue.

The trooper used their patrol car to stop the driver after a two-mile chase, the state patrol said.

Two passengers exited the vehicle immediately and cooperated with troopers, while the driver initially refused to follow commands.

After a few minutes, the driver exited the vehicle voluntarily and was taken into custody.

The driver, 25-year-old Matthew Silvers, was arrested on suspicion of his fourth DUI, flight to avoid arrest, obstructing a peace officer, driving with a revoked license and failure to obey a lawful order.

Silvers was lodged in the Douglas County Jail.
