NSP: Man reached 147 mph during 22-minute pursuit on I-80

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested a California man following a pursuit on Interstate 80 early Saturday morning.

The man, identified as Jonathan Suckow, 37, of Lomita, California, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, willful reckless driving, and felony flight to avoid arrest. He was lodged in Hall County Jail.

The patrol said the pursuit, which began when a trooper saw Suckow driving at just four miles per hour on I-80 near Kearney, lasted 22 minutes, with Suckow reaching speeds of up to 147 miles per hour.

The patrol said Suckow began driving recklessly and was passing other vehicles on the shoulder. He stopped his vehicle voluntarily near mile marker 285, then sped back up when troopers approached.

A few minutes later, additional troopers were able to successfully deploy spike strips and bring the Mustang to a stop near Wood River at mile marker 302.
