NSP: Teen arrested after brief chase, crash in west Omaha

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested a 16-year-old girl Friday night after a short chase and crash in west Omaha.

The teen was arrested on suspicion of a DUI, second-degree assault, minor in possession, false imprisonment and other traffic related charges.

Just before 10 p.m., a trooper saw a Mazda CX9 driving faster than 100 mph, without headlights on, near 156th and Q streets.

The trooper tried to pull the car over, but the teen never stopped, the state patrol said.

According to the state patrol, the teen pulled into a neighborhood before returning to Q Street and fleeing westbound.

After the vehicle passed 168th Street, it came up on two vehicles driving the same direction.

The teen tried to drive between the two vehicles, but crashed into the rear of a Toyota 4Runner, causing the 4Runner to roll, the patrol said.

Officials said the driver of the 4Runner was taken to Bergan Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Mazda were cleared by medical staff at the scene.

According to the state patrol, the passenger in the Mazda said the teen refused to let her exit the vehicle while fleeing.

While being arrested, the teen “forcibly kicked” a trooper, the patrol said. The entire pursuit lasted two minutes.

The teen was lodged in the Douglas County Youth Center.
