NU regent accused of drunken driving resigns from Douglas County Attorney’s Office
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The University of Nebraska regent involved in a serious crash has announced her resignation from the Douglas County Attorney’s Office.
In a statement on Wednesday, Elizabeth O’Connor said her resignation was effective Tuesday.
“While I am proud of my work serving Douglas County, I do not want my pending legal matter to serve as a distraction,” she said.

O’Connor was charged last week with DUI and is accused of causing the head-on crash on May 21 in Omaha.
The crash left a passenger in the other vehicle in critical condition, with a broken back and pelvis.
Court documents say O’Connor’s blood alcohol content level was 0.321%, four times the legal limit.
In her statement, O’Connor thanked her former colleagues for her time in the office.
Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 9.
