Officer hospitalized in two-vehicle crash in Norfolk

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An officer with Norfolk Police was injured Sunday morning in a crash, officials say.
Police said the officer was taking a person in custody to the Madison County Jail when they approached Highway 81 and 829th Road.
The officer was slowing down to make a right turn when their vehicle was hit from the rear by a pickup truck, according to police.
First responders took both drivers and the arrestee to a hospital in Norfolk.
The officer and the driver of the pickup truck were then taken to a hospital in Omaha for further treatment. The arrestee has since been treated and released.
The Nebraska State Patrol and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the crash.
Police said possible charges are “pending.”
