Officers investigating robbery at south Lincoln apartment
An unknown man kicked down the victim's apartment door and demanded a phone.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 37-year-old victim reported an unknown man broke down his door and tried to attack him during a robbery at a south Lincoln apartment.
Police received a call around noon on Wednesday to a report of a robbery. The victim told police an unknown man kicked down the door to his apartment in the 600 block of South 20th Street.
The unknown man told the victim that he wanted to talk and repeatedly asked for his phone. The victim attempted to run to a bedroom but the unknown man followed and punched him 3-5 times in the torso, according to LPD.
The unknown man then grabbed a 7-inch long knife and swung it at the victim, while continually demanding a phone.
The victim eventually escaped from the apartment, only suffering a minor cut on one of his fingers. The victim told police the unknown man stole his cellphone and a Walmart gift card.
When officers arrived at the apartment, they could not locate the suspect. LPD says the investigation is currently ongoing, anyone with information is encouraged to call 402-441-6000.
