Officers were able to recover several laptops that were stolen from the newest Lincoln high school, police say.
On Sunday, officers were sent to a grass fire near 38th and Webster Streets, according to Lincoln Police.
Close by, officers found laptops inside a vehicle that had a door open. The laptops were all labeled “LPS,” police say.
They then found additional laptops hidden under a towel in a bush. In total, officers recovered 17 laptops, which were all stolen from Northwest High School.
Police are unsure how someone got into the school, but they say a locked storage closet with computers had a damaged deadbolt.
Lincoln Public Schools is now working to see if anything else is missing from the high school, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
