Officers ticketed nearly 200 speeders during O Street enforcement project, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Officers dished out nearly 200 citations for speeding during a four-month O Street traffic enforcement project.

On Wednesday, the Lincoln Police Department released the results of the project, which ran from May through August.

During that time frame, additional officers were placed on O Street from 17th to 98th streets to reduce crashes and promote vehicle safety.

In the four-month span, officers issued 662 citations, including 198 for speeding.  Officers also gave out 372 warnings, according to police.

Results of the traffic enforcement project:

  • Speeding citations: 198
  • Speeding warnings: 58
  • Traffic signal citations: 10
  • Traffic signal warnings: 7
  • Stop sign citations: 3
  • Stop sign warnings: 0
  • Seat belt citations: 30
  • Seat belt warnings: 17
  • No insurance citations: 45
  • No insurance warnings: 31
  • No valid registration citations: 198
  • No valid registration warnings: 129
  • Other traffic violation citations: 141
  • Other traffic violation warnings: 131
  • Suspended drivers: 25
  • Narcotics arrests: 6
  • Criminal violations: 8
  • Warrant arrests: 14
  • DUI arrests: 4
