Officials call for nominations of next inductee into Nebraska Hall of Fame

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – State officials are calling for nominations of the next inductee into the Nebraska Hall of Fame.
In a press release Friday, the Nebraska Hall of Fame Commission announced that it’s now accepting nominations for the honor.
“The process for the selection of the Hall of Fame inductee is designed to be slow and deliberative,” said Dr. Sara B. Cook, Nebraska Hall of Fame commissioner, in the release. “There are many Nebraskans who have contributed to this great state and the nation. To be selected is a testimony to the lasting impact of these outstanding Nebraskans.”
There are currently 27 busts of the Nebraska Hall of Fame members displayed in the State Capitol.
Last year, Malcolm X was added to the Nebraska Hall of Fame.
State law limits the induction of one person to the Nebraska Hall of Fame every five years. The nominee must also have been dead for at least 35 years.
Nominations, which can be submitted on the state’s website, will be accepted up until Dec. 31, 2026. They can also be turned in at the Nebraska State Historical Society.
