Omaha inmate dies while serving life sentence for first-degree murder

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An inmate at the Omaha Correctional Center died Sunday in an Omaha hospital.

Edward Lee, 68, started a life sentence in January 1983 for first-degree murder in Douglas County.

While the cause of death has yet to be determined, Lee was being treated for a medical condition, according to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.

Whenever an inmate dies in Nebraska, a grand jury will conduct and investigation.
