Omaha man arrested in hit-and-run crash that seriously injured pedestrian

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Omaha man was arrested Thursday after a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian earlier this week.

The Omaha Police Department said Jerry Herrera, 27, was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of a personal injury crash causing serious bodily injury.

The crash happened around 3:20 p.m. on Monday at North 40th and Cuming streets.

Police said a pedestrian was in a marked crosswalk when a Ford Expedition hit them.

The driver of the Ford, Herrera, continued driving after hitting the pedestrian, according to police.

The pedestrian was taken to Nebraska Medicine with critical injuries.
