Omaha man caught holding woman against her will in traffic stop, patrol says
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Omaha man was arrested Tuesday after troopers found a woman and child in his car, the Nebraska State Patrol said.
Around 6:15 a.m., a trooper pulled over a Chevy Equinox that was driving recklessly on Highway 75 in Bellevue.
Immediately, a woman ran out of the car and told the trooper that she was being held against her will, the patrol said.
The trooper saw that the victim had injuries to her face and that a child was also in the car.
The driver, 36-year-old Jose Hernandez Cruz, gave a fake driver’s license to the trooper, the patrol said.
He was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including child abuse and false imprisonment.
The woman and child were taken to a hospital. The patrol said the child was not injured.
An investigation is ongoing.
