Omaha man caught with brass knuckles after running from trooper, patrol says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Omaha man tried evading arrest Saturday after a traffic stop, the Nebraska State Patrol says.
Around 5:45 p.m., a trooper pulled over a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 44-year-old Joseph Hamlin of Omaha, near 24th Street and Himebaugh Avenue.
During the traffic stop, Hamlin refused to give his identification, according to the patrol.
The trooper then used a mobile fingerprint scanner and learned that Hamlin had two outstanding warrants.
Hamlin ran away and the trooper chased after him through a neighborhood and over two fences before taking him into custody, the patrol said.
The trooper found a set of brass knuckles in Hamlin’s pocket.
An officer with the Omaha Police Department arrived at the scene and took Hamlin back to the trooper’s patrol vehicle.
While in the OPD cruiser, Hamlin swallowed a “white powder,” according to the patrol.
Hamlin was taken to a hospital before being arrested on suspicion of several charges, including obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
