LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Omaha man will spend over a year behind bars for getting onto Eppley Airfield’s tarmac, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says.

Chol Magwit, 21, was sentenced Wednesday to one year and three months in prison for interference with security screening personnel.

On April 7, Magwit “forced open” two separate doors at the airport and made it onto the tarmac, the attorney’s office said.

He was tackled and arrested after he refused commands to stop.

Magwit did not seem impaired and said he wanted to go to Egypt, according to the attorney’s office.

After his release from prison, Magwit will serve a three-year term of supervised release.  There is no parole in the federal system.
