Three teens arrested after crashing stolen vehicle into tree in Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Three teenagers were arrested Monday morning after police say they crashed a stolen car south of downtown Lincoln.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. near Second and D streets.

A police officer at the scene said the vehicle crashed it into a tree near the intersection.

A video on the NOW Local News App shows a Ford Focus lying on its side, next to the tree.

The car was reported stolen about an hour and a half earlier near 22nd and D streets.

Police said three youths inside the car were taken into custody and referred on multiple charges, including theft by receiving.

A 16-year-old boy was driving, police said, and a 17-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy were also in the car.
