One cited, one hospitalized in crash on Interstate 80 near Waverly
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Interstate 80 eastbound was partially closed Monday after a crash just outside of Waverly.
Just before 1 p.m., several first responders were sent to mile marker 413, just east of the Waverly exit.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, a semitrailer was parked on the outside shoulder of I-80 and then tried to make a U-turn to start driving westbound.
The semi turned in front of a Ford Fusion that was driving east, causing the two vehicles to collide, NSP said.
According to NSP, the driver of the Ford was taken to Bryan Health West with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi was cited for an illegal U-turn and reckless driving.
In a video sent to our NOW Local News App by a Channel 8 reporter, you can see crews working to clean up the crash, with the far left lane of I-80 eastbound closed.
The crash initially closed two lanes on I-80 eastbound, but all lanes have since been reopened, according to Nebraska 511.
