One dead and one injured after Highway 6 crash in Hastings

(KHGI) The Hastings Police Department said they’re investigating what caused a crash that killed one and injured another on Friday.

According to the Hastings Police Department, they received a call about a crash involving two vehicles on Highway 6 around 9:38 p.m.

Hastings P.D. said it happened on the 2200 block of West High 6/J Street.

Authorities said an Oldsmobile was headed west on Highway 6 when it crossed the intersection and collided with an eastbound Ford Explorer.

They said the driver of the Oldsmobile died and the driver of the Ford Explorer was transported to a hospital in Lincoln.

Hastings Police said the extent of the injuries for the driver of the Ford Explorer is not known. Police aren’t saying whether the other driver died on scene or at a hospital. They will be investigating to see if alcohol, speed or weather conditions were a factor in the crash.

No names have be released yet.
