One driver critically injured in south Lincoln crash

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Two people were injured Friday afternoon, one seriously, in a crash in south Lincoln.

The crash was reported about 4 p.m. at 40th Street and Old Cheney Road.

A car was badly damaged, and a pickup truck went off the road.

The vehicles collided while both were trying to turn, the Lincoln Police Department said.

A fire hydrant was also damaged in the crash, according to a Channel 8 reporter at the scene.

Police said one driver suffered life-threatening injuries. The other is expected to be OK.

Traffic was backed up for a time.
