One hospitalized after grease fire at northeast Lincoln apartment complex

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Someone was taken to the hospital Friday following a fire at an apartment complex in northeast Lincoln.

Just after 12 p.m., more than 20 Lincoln Fire & Rescue units were sent to the complex near 52nd and Fremont streets.

According to a spokeswoman from LFR, crews were led into the smoke filled apartment by a maintenance worker who had a key.

Crews found one person in the apartment and a small active grease fire in the kitchen area, according to LFR.

The person was rescued and transported to a local hospital. LFR didn’t specify the extent of their injuries.

In a video sent to our NOW Local News App, you can see crews working outside to put out the fire.

Crews were able to extinguish the blaze and the fire was contained to the apartment-room in which it started.

The blaze caused $25,000 in damage, with minor water damage to the apartment below.
