One killed, another seriously injured in crash southwest of Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Milford woman was killed late Thursday night in a crash southwest of Lincoln, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.

The two-vehicle crash happened on Highway 33 near Southwest 42nd Street, just about 3 miles east of Crete.

A Ford Fusion, driven by 27-year-old Hermelinda Reynoso of Milford, crossed the center line and struck a Honda Accord Crosstour, according to the sheriff’s office.

The vehicles hit “nearly head-on,” and both drivers were trapped, the sheriff’s office said.

Reynoso was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Honda, a 24-year-old woman from Friend, was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition.

The sheriff’s office said Reynoso is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.  She was also not “properly restrained.”

An investigation is ongoing.
