A semitrailer truck had rolled onto its side and was blocking both westbound lanes, the sheriff’s office said.
A westbound semi came to a stop for the tipped-over semi, and authorities said another westbound vehicle then hit the second semi.
The driver of the third vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi drivers were not injured, according to the sheriff’s office.
A stretch of the westbound lanes was closed for about four hours.
