LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Custer County deputies responded to a deadly crash on a rural Nebraska highway early Friday morning.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on Highway 2 near the Road 812 intersection, about a mile southeast of Anselmo.

The sheriff’s office said a semitrailer-truck tipped over after it struck a tractor from behind.

The semi’s trailer was blocking the highway, and the tractor came to a stop on the side of the road.

A Ford pickup truck, heading west on Highway 2, was unable to avoid the trailer and crashed into it.

All three drivers were taken to a hospital in Broken Bow.  The driver of the Ford was later pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said.

Several cattle in the semi’s trailer were killed in the crash.

The extent of the other two driver’s injuries is unknown.
