One more fantastic day before a transitional Thursday
We’ve had some unseasonably warm temperatures lately, with a streak of 70s since the weekend. That is set to continue for Wednesday, and maybe Thursday as well.
The top row shows the forecast through the rest of the work week. The bottom row compares last year’s temperatures at this time of the year. Which do you prefer? There’s a vast difference between the two!
In fact, our streak of 70s since Sunday has been interesting. Lincoln recorded three consecutive days with highs right at 72°. The last time we had a warm start to November similar to this year was 2020. And back then, too, we saw a string of the exact same temperature. Three consecutive days got to 78°.
Now I’m going to make the case for why you should really enjoy Wednesday’s weather. We’ve got another day that will be warm, but without the wind this time. Plenty of sunshine will make this day one to take advantage of while it lasts!
Because by Thursday, winds will be very strong once more. They’ll be out of the south and southwest for us through the afternoon. That’ll push temperatures close to 70 again but notice the winds in Valentine below.
A cold front will shift winds to be out of the northwest. We should see the cold front move through Lincoln by Thursday evening.
There’s a chance for light precipitation more so for southwest Nebraska, but I can’t rule out a few sprinkles as the front drifts southeast. More clouds throughout the day on Thursday for just about everyone.
This will leave us cooler and closer to normal to end the work week on Friday. Highs will be just in the low to mid 50s by then.
