One More WARM Day Before A Rainy Thursday
This afternoon, high temperatures near or above our record high of 65 degrees (2003). Breezy SW winds will help with the warmer temperatures. Get out and enjoy the sun and well above average warmth!
SW winds will gust to around 25-35 mph Wednesday afternoon. Near critical fire weather will be a concern further north and NW. Winds decrease once the sun sets.
Rain potential through Friday won’t amount to much the further north and west you go. Some spots in SE Nebraska could get close to an inch of rain. This rain and warmer temperatures will mess with snow potential going into Friday. Colder air and less rain out west could mean better snow accumulations.
Models are agreeing on a band of snow from SW Nebraska to northeast Nebraska through Friday morning. This will be wet/heavy snow as it starts to develop. This means more moisture within the snow. Easy to make snowballs type of snow!
Thursday afternoon and evening, DRY AIR will take over much of NW Nebraska, while more moist air settles further south and east. This means where ever the moisture settles, the better chance for precipitation near the surface. HINT: Lighter rain totals further north and heavier rain totals further southeast.
Warm, sunny and breezy conditions continues through this afternoon. Rain and snow chances return Thursday morning and continue through Friday night. Uncertainty remains on snow potential Friday. Stay tuned to the latest forecasts. Next week brings above average temperatures with sunshine and light precipitation chances late in the week.
