Otoe County crash kills two people, injures one
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A crash in Otoe County on Friday morning killed two and sent one to the hospital.
Otoe County deputies were sent to a two-vehicle crash just before 6 a.m. on Highway 2 near Dunbar.
The investigation showed that 44-year-old Tommy Aldana of Nebraska City was driving east when he crossed the median, according to the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office.
Aldana collided with 65-year-old Daniel Rys of Indiana, who officials said died at the scene.
Deputies said Aldana was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City, where he was pronounced dead.
A 13-year-old boy who was riding with Aldana was taken to St. Mary’s for treatment of his injuries, according to law enforcement.
Officials said the westbound lanes were closed on Highway 2 for four hours but have since reopened.
The crash is still under investigation.
This is the third fatal crash in Otoe County this year.
