LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a second fatal crash in as many days.

Deputies responded to a fatal head-on crash east of Syracuse on Highway 2, near the Highway 50 interchange, just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

A preliminary investigation shows a Jeep Cherokee driving eastbound in the westbound lanes on Highway 2.

Deputies said the driver of the Jeep, 24-year-old Michael Salvato, struck a westbound Ford Fusion driven by 56-year-old Ann Fields of Tecumseh.

Fields was then struck by a westbound motorcoach. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to deputies.

Salvato was transported to the Syracuse Area Health Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The occupants of the motorcoach were not injured.

Deputies say the accident is still under investigation. The Nebraska State patrol is assisting with crash reconstruction.
