‘Outpouring of support’ seen at visitation for fallen Ceresco Police officer
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Support is pouring in for Ceresco Police Officer Ross Bartlett, who was killed in the line of duty on April 12 while making a traffic stop on Highway 77.
On Thursday, a large crowd came to his visitation, including Nebraska state troopers who wanted to share their support for a fellow officer of the law.
“We definitely want to show an outpouring of support for the family, more than anything, for his agency and for other allied law enforcement agencies that worked with him,” Trooper Jonathan Schwarz said.

Jim Mather, road captain of the Patriot Guard Riders of Nebraska, said it was important for he and his fellow riders to be there.
“We do this all the time,” he said. “We do this for our veterans, our active duty that were killed in duty, and we do it for our first responders. And that is what today is all about.”
The riders stood outside the visitation holding American flags as attendees made their way inside.

Ray Paulson, a fellow Patriot Guard rider, said days like this hit home.
“My father was a deputy sheriff in my hometown in Minnestoa,” he said. “We are honored to be here and bring honor to the family.”
Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said the city welcomes those coming to honor the fallen hero.
“We’re happy to help support people coming to Lincoln for that service, ” she said. “And I’m sure that … it’s very meaningful for the family to see the great numbers of folks who are paying their respects.”

And the heartfelt words for Bartlett extended beyond Lincoln.
Nebraska Rep. Mike Flood paid tribute to Bartlett on the floor of the U.S. House.
“We have lost a great officer and an outstanding Nebraskan with a big heart for public service.” “May God be with his family and friends during this difficult time.”
