Oven fire causes evacuation of apartment complex near downtown Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An oven caught fire Monday afternoon inside an apartment complex near downtown Lincoln.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue was called to an apartment complex at 20th and G streets just before 1 p.m. on reports of a kitchen fire.

When firefighters arrived, they found a fire in the oven, which was locked.

LFR said the oven caught fire while it was in self-cleaning mode.

Firefighters had to break the glass on the oven to put the fire out.

All the residents in the apartment complex were evacuated but have since been given the OK to go back inside.

The fire was contained to the oven, so there was no damage to the apartment itself.
