Over 100 Breast Cancer survivors gather for annual luncheon in Lincoln

Project Pink’d, a local breast cancer support organization, hosted over one hundred breast cancer survivors at the Cornhusker Hotel

Sunday afternoon for their annual Care to Share Thanksgiving.

“We know that this time of year things get busy, stress levels rise and when you’re going through treatment the holidays can be a burden for some so this is our way of taking that burden away,” said Cassandra Zywiec, the executive advisory council for the organization.

This is the second time Project Pink’d has hosted the event and it was even larger than last year.

Project Pink’d provides support and resources to women who are going through breast cancer or have gone through it.

Survivors from all over Nebraska came to the Cornhusker to share their stories, enjoy a meal, and support one another.

“Women can come together and share their stories, they can share their struggles, they can share what they learn daily, and really come together and benefit in their healing journey and continue to move on in a positive way,” Zywiec said.

Each of the ladies who attended was given a pre-made fully catered Thanksgiving meal to take home.

Project Pink’d said it’s their way to make sure even if the women are going through treatment they can still enjoy the holiday with their families.
