LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Troopers seized over 100 pounds of meth during a traffic stop Wednesday near North Platte, the Nebraska State Patrol says.

Around 5:30 p.m., a trooper pulled over a Kia Forte on eastbound Interstate 80.

During the traffic stop, the trooper smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, according to the patrol.

Troopers searched the vehicle and found “several large packages” of suspected meth inside suitcases in the trunk, the patrol said.  The total weight of the meth was 110 pounds.

The patrol said a small amount of marijuana, suspected drug money and four counterfeit $100 bills were also seized.

The driver, Yafet Kidane Berhe, and passenger, Douglas Cameron, were arrested on suspicion of several felony drug charges.

Both are from Toronto, Canada.
