Over 340,000 people attended Lincoln Airshow, city officials say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Hundreds of thousands poured into Lincoln for the Guardians of Freedom Airshow last weekend, city officials said Thursday.

In total, more than 340,000 people attended the shows on Saturday and Sunday, becoming the largest spectator event in Lincoln’s history.

“We’re thrilled about how the event came together and with the support we received from our event partners, making it the biggest show we’ve ever put on,” said Col. John Williams, Commander of the 155th Air Refueling Wing, in a press release.

The Lincoln Chamber of Commerce said the Guardians of Freedom Airshow in 2011 held the previous record with over 250,000 people in attendance.

“We are proud to have played host to the Blue Angels and 340,000 guests and friends for an unforgettable event, which had a significant economic benefit for all of Lincoln,” said Jason Ball, CEO of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, in the release.
