Over 40 pounds of cocaine seized during north Lincoln traffic stop, deputy says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was caught Tuesday with over 40 pounds of cocaine in his van in Lincoln, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.

Around 1:30 p.m., members of the criminal interdiction task force pulled over a Dodge Ram on Interstate 80 near the 56th Street exit.

The driver, 47-year-old Artur Hysa from Illinois, consented to a K9 search, Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said.

The dog smelled drugs coming from inside the vehicle, and deputies found 44 pounds of cocaine in the back of the van, according to Houchin.

The drugs are worth around $700,000, and investigators think Hysa was traveling back to Illinois to sell the drugs, Houchin said.

Hysa was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine with intent to deliver.
