Over 50 BNSF train cars derail near Grand Island, city officials say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – No one was injured Friday morning after a BNSF train derailed near Grand Island.

City spokesman Spencer Schubert said 57 train cars derailed around 4:45 a.m. near Cairo.

BNSF is working on clean-up, and Hall County officials are inspecting the track.

The train is blocking High Street to 110th Road, Schubert said.  It’s unknown when the road will reopen.
