Overnight rain possible; A cooler to start the week

A cold front is positioned off to the west as of Sunday evening. Along that boundary, we will see some shower and thunderstorm development. For much of Sunday evening, eastern Nebraska will remain dry. However, areas to the west, including the Tri-Cities, may see some of this storm activity.

Initially, the storms may pose a severe weather risk for areas to the west. A “slight” risk for severe weather includes points west of the Tri-Cities. Damaging straight-line winds appear to be the main concern with any stronger storms.

Severe Weather Outlook

These showers push east heading overnight and into Monday morning, likely arriving in a weakened state in eastern Nebraska. Some scattered showers and storms are not out of the question early Monday. We expect a low temperature in the middle-70s in Lincoln.

Sunday Night Forecast

As the morning progresses, a stray shower cannot be ruled out. However, we expect the coverage of the showers to diminish as we get closer to lunchtime.

Stormcast Monday Morning

On Monday afternoon, skies will clear and conditions will trend drier. It will be a cooler day on Monday, with high temperatures in the 80s across southeast Nebraska.

Monday Forecast

The humidity steadily drops off on Monday, and by Tuesday we’ll be dealing with dew points in the 50s. That will be some really comfortable air. Couple that with sunshine and highs in the 80s, and that makes for a really nice day on Tuesday.

The respite from the heat/humidity will be short-lived, however. More hot weather comes back in full force by the end of the workweek.
