Overnight Storm Chances on Sunday into Monday Morning

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in place until 4 a.m. for northeast Nebraska, as a strong line of storms tracks east across the northern portions of the state late Sunday evening.

There is a SLIGHT RISK (Level 2 out of 5) of severe weather as storms will move across the state late Sunday night and into early Monday morning. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main concerns.
The latest runs of Stormcast shows storms moving across northern Nebraska early Monday morning before diving south and east. Storms are expected to reach the Capital City by 6 a.m. CDT on Monday, but models have shown weakening of those storms as they move into the Lincoln area.
Forecast:
High temperatures across the state were right on par for summertime heat in Nebraska, with high temperatures slightly above average.
Forecast temperatures this evening will fall into the lower and mid-70s. Partly cloudy skies and chances for showers and thunderstorms with a southerly breeze.
In the Capital City tonight, expect lows in the mid 70s with partly cloudy skies. Storm chances in the early morning hours on Monday with a few sprinkles possible still for the morning commute.
On Monday, much of southeast Nebraska will see high temperatures in the lower 90s with a south-southeasterly wind. Mostly sunny skies during the day before storm chances return on Monday evening.

After we see storm chances to start the work week, mostly sunny skies and cooler temperatures in the upper 80s grace the forecast by the middle part of this week. Small chances for rain next weekend before we look to significantly cool off into the upper 70s and lower 80s for the start of classes at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
