Overturned concrete mixer shuts down railroad for several hours in southern Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An overturned concrete mixer caused a railroad to shut down in southern Nebraska on Tuesday.
Just after 7:30 a.m., first responders were dispatched to the intersection of Highways 46 and 136 in Oxford.
When Oxford Fire & Rescue arrived, they found the truck close enough to the railroad tracks that they had to shut it down for the safety of those on scene.
The railroad, as well as both highways, were closed for several hours.
According to officials, the truck was fully loaded with 11 yards of concrete. Most of the concrete stayed in the drum, but there was some spilled onto the roadway.
Authorities said the driver managed to get out of the vehicle before first responders arrived. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
There is no word on what caused the truck to tip.
