Overwhelming majority of Nebraska voters approve paid sick leave initiative

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Voters in Nebraska gave resounding approval on Tuesday to a ballot measure requiring employers to provide paid sick leave.

Initiative 436 had 74% of the vote, as of 11:55 p.m.

Employers with more than 20 workers will now be required to provide seven days of paid sick leave.

Companies with fewer than 20 employees must provide five days.

The requirement doesn’t apply to union or government jobs.
