Pair of Huskers take home Big Ten volleyball weekly honors

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Big Ten Conference announced Monday two Nebraska volleyball players were recognized with weekly honors.

Rebekah Allick took home the defensive player of the week award, while Bergen Reilly was recognized as setter of the week.

Allick was named the most valuable player and best middle blocker at the AVCA First Serve Showcase in Louisville.

She tallied 11 kills and a career-high 12 blocks in the 3-1 win over No. 9 Kentucky.

Over the first three matches, Allick averaged 2.40 kills and 1.90 blocks per set with a .415 hitting percentage.

This is Allick’s third Big Ten weekly award in her career.

Reilly led the Huskers to a 3-0 start with 10.73 assists and 3.18 digs per set

She was named the best setter at the AVCA First Serve Showcase with 39 assists and 11 digs.

Reilly had three double-doubles on the week, including 43 assists and 14 digs in a 3-1 win over TCU.

She set a career-high with five service aces in the match against Texas A&M Corpus Christi, opening the match on a 10-0 run from behind the line.

This is Reilly’s seventh weekly award in her career.
