LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A playground at Woods Park in Lincoln will be dedicated in honor of a 6-year-old girl who died in December 2020 from complications of a heart transplant.

The Lincoln Parks Foundation announced that it will host a dedication event at the park at 7 p.m. on July 22.

Thanks to nearly 70 donors, the park will now honor the life of Ingrid “Iggy” Borer.  Iggy spent hours at the park with her family, swinging with her sister and twin brother.

The park will be accessible to all and will also promote inclusive play, city officials say.

“It has been a true honor to work with the Borer family on this tribute to Iggy,” Lincoln Parks Director Maggie Stuckey-Ross said.  “We are proud to partner with their family and friends to add these wonderful, inclusive amenities to Woods Park, providing play opportunities for years to come.”

The city invites the community to come to the event.  Stuckey-Ross and others will talk about the Iggy Borer Playground project.

Clowning Around will be at the event to give free balloon animals to eventgoers.
