Pat Egan’s 50th Boat, Sport and Travel Show is underway at the Lancaster Event Center

Thousands of people from all over the Midwest are traveling to Lincoln for Pat Egan’s 50th Boat, Sport and Travel Show at the Lancaster Event Center.
Over the decades, the show has become a must attend event for outdoor and sports enthusiasts.
50 years ago, Pat decided that Lincoln should have its own sports show, and it’s blossomed ever since.
“Omaha had a sports boat show, and we said Lincoln needs a boat show, and so we started with one boat at 13th and P,” said Egan.
Pat says the very first show featured just one boat and one RV.
The 50th show is a different story.
Hundreds of boats and RV’s occupy 150,000 square feet of exhibition space.
One of the many attractions available, the trout stocked pond, is run by Eugene Strader, who specializes in helping kids catch their very first fish.
“They can come in and catch a fish, they can keep the fish and take it home, we have a freezer we can freeze for them while they enjoy the show. We have families that come in to catch their dinner for them for the weekend and everything,” said Strader.
The three day event features free parking and admission is just $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Friday is military day, and veterans got in for free!
“Sometimes they’ll show me their card or show me their hat, you don’t need that, just tell us you’re a veteran, I was in the marine corps, and you go and you just let them in for free,” said Egan.
The event continues on Saturday and Sunday here at the Lancaster Event Center.
